Mollie Michel (she/her), Program Director
Prior to joining Sunstone, Mollie was most recently Deputy Director at the Environmental Protection Network (EPN), where she oversaw public affairs and communications strategy for the organization. Mollie has also assisted in management of state and federal campaigns for Moms Clean Air Force, advocating for strong protections from pollution from oil and gas operations across the country. A seasoned nonprofit professional, she has more than twenty years of experience in communications, development and marketing, and special events at various nonprofit organizations in New York City.
While she has always been an advocate at heart, Mollie’s passion to further strong climate policy began when she became a mom, which made her realize she needed to join the fight to provide a better, cleaner future for generations to come.
Now based in Philadelphia, Mollie is also a passionate advocate for public education, and works at the local level in her community to uplift the need for well resourced public schools, strong anti-bullying policies, and environmentally safe school buildings.
An avid runner, Mollie is also a volunteer running leader for Students Run Philly Style, a local nonprofit that aims to transform students’ lives through running and mentorship. As a running leader, she works with middle school students to build a sense of commitment and community, and set running goals, including the completion of a half or full marathon. Mollie lives in South Philadelphia with her husband and two daughters, who are also devoted athletes, runners, and advocates.
