Leela Yadav (she/her), Program Associate

Prior to joining Sunstone in 2024, Leela worked as a legislative intern in the House of Representatives, where she conducted climate policy research and composed congressional speeches and letters on environmental policy issues.

Leela deepened her passion for collaborating with diverse stakeholders to support justice-oriented climate action as an Environmental Peace building Researcher at the Environmental Law Institute (ELI) from 2021 to 2024.

Leela graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Society and Environment and a minor in French. While at Berkeley, Leela worked as a peer writing tutor and took part in the Students of Color Environmental Collective (SCEC), a group that centers racial justice and inclusion in environmental work.

In her free time, Leela finds joy in reading, knitting garments for loved ones, and exploring new creative endeavors.

Leela is based in her hometown, Washington, D.C.
